is the brain child of Bonnie Jay, internationally renowned parrot photographer, and her business partner, Anne Eilers.  Ronny Uehling is the third partner in StarBird and our bright light. 

Bonnie’s work is featured in Aviculture books and magazines around the world and she is recognized as a leader in her field. The extraordinary inspired images Bonnie creates are a combination of superb photography, amazing rapport with the birds, and patience.

Bonnie and Anne have between them four African Grey Parrots and one Moluccan Cockatoo.

One of Bonnie’s companions is Mattie Moonbeam, a tiny, cheeky, Moluccan Cockatoo. She's amazingly intelligent, and far too sensitive for her own good. Her mission in this life is to entertain everyone, and to demonstrate to all just how soft, sweet, sensitive and intelligent a parrot can be.

Chiahna Star is an enormous young male grey who is has finally found his place in the family. Chiahna is a very self-assured young guy whose favorite pastime is to be twirled upside down and around by mom. His current favorite phrase is "Want a cookie?" His best made up word from cracker and apple is ...crapple. :)  His latest new word is 'necterugala'.  Necterine and arugula.  He just turned 4 and he is sweet for a boy.  He tries to attack Mattie and is very brave for a grey boy.

Anne's companions are all re-homed adult Congo African Grey parrots, two of whom are DNA female in spite of their male names, and the other is a DNA male.

Chico, re-homed 3 times, is a confident and fully feathered girl, and a wonderful 'big sister' to Frankie. Chico loves keeping the household in order, makes it her business to issue orders, and she has a comment for every situation.

Frankie, only had one previous home. She is a feather picker, but is becoming more confident as well as more feathered everyday, . She is our 'thinker' and she takes great pleasure in discovering her intelligence and parrotness.

Smokey,  re-homed 3 times as well, is a very sweet, fully feathered boy. Although he has some medical issues, he is getting stronger, healthier and more active everyday.  He loves playing in the bird room with the cute girls, and is a real show-off. Smokey is non-stop happy noise, and a dancer extraordinaire.

“Pippin is a baby of 15 months (adopted Oct 1 06), we are his fourth home.  DNA male and a total little sweetheart, Pippin looks to his big sister, Frankie, for guidance as long as Frankie says something is ok, Pippin will do it.  Pippin is just learning the in’s and out’s of the bird room and once his wings grow out he will love flying around.”
 

To round out Anne's family, she is caregiver to Daisy, a rescued Bassett Hound, Zarina Zahra of Dragonridge, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, two stray kitties, Coco and LeRoy and Twerple a mean, rescued Red Slider Turtle.

Jeff Maxwell played the role of Private Igor the "chef" on the CBS mega-hit M*A*S*H. Since the end of production, Jeff has created and produced television product, authored the best-selling book "Secrets Of The M*A*S*H Mess: The Lost Recipes Of Private Igor", produced a documentary about the recent END outbreak in California, and created 2J's Gourmet which produces and markets Chico Rico: the best Bloody Mary drink ever made. Every bottle features Bonnie's photograph of "Chico."

Jeff and Bonnie's friendship and appreciation of all creatures created a business partnership: Bonnie's award-winning photography and Jeff's slightly off-center look at the world. This team is in the process of creating a line of note cards that will send the perfect message to the receiver and make everybody laugh in the process. They're currently working hard at it.
